Martel is a 500-hour yoga teacher who made her way back to Saratoga in 2016 after graduating from Skidmore College in 2011. After practicing asana on and off for years, Martel found a personal connection to the entirety of yoga – recognizing its healing power on the body, mind and soul – and never looked back. Her dedication began with a deep journey of self-study to examine her longterm stress, anxiety and depression rooted in an incurable degenerative eye condition. What she discovered was that her physical, mental and spiritual practice helped her to accept and manage her stressors.

As a result, Martel emphasizes love, exploration and acceptance of the Self – both on the mat in class and off the mat in everyday life. Drawing on everything from Bhakti yoga, Ayurveda, ancient Buddhist philosophy and modern neurobiology, Martel offers classes that are empowering, therapeutic and integrative in nature.

Martel is a graduate of Jai Pure Yoga’s 200-hour teacher training in Montclair, New Jersey and Gopi Kinnicutt’s 300-hour training at the Govardhan Eco Village in Maharashtra, India. She is also a certified life coach and Restorative Yoga teacher, having trained with fellow Yoga Mandali teacher, Ann Biasetti. She is endlessly grateful to her teachers – old, new and not yet encountered – and is devoted to spreading the good seeds they have planted.
